THE
BASIC AIM
Industrial Arts Education
is the type of education which helps students at primary level find out
their interests and attitudes, prepares them for a profession through
introduction of profession and steers them to a basic profession which
will lead to a choice of profession rationally.
The basic aim of The
Faculty of Industrial Arts of Education is to educate teachers for the
course Work Education conducted as obligatory at second level of primary
school education and the optional courses on computer, agriculture,
stock-breeding and local handcrafts and technology. The course Work
Education involves Work and Techniques, Commerce, Home Economy and
Agriculture. Therefore, the four departments of our faculty are
responsible for the training of teachers with relevant qualifications in
the fields mentioned.
THE TEACHING EDUCATION
The courses in our faculty
are of three types mainly general culture, pedagogical formation and
courses that belong to a specific field with the focus on workshops and
laboratories. The 14 workshops for Clothing, Textile Handcrafts,
Nutrition, Woodworks, Metalworks, Electricity, Electronics, Ceramics,
Design, Power and Energy, Graphics, Serigraphy, Press and 5 laboratories
are active for teaching and learning activities. In our faculty there
are 6 professors, 5 associate professors, 17 assistant professors, 17
lecturers, 19 research assistants. The total number of students was 934
in the academic year 2002-2003.
THE JOBS AVAILABLE FOR OUR GRADUATES
Our faculty has educated
3.217 work education teachers up to now for the Ministry of National
Education according to the criteria set for our aim. Choice of
profession has become more important with the eight-year continuous
obligatory Primary Education Law enumerated 4306 in 1997. This caused a
rapid increase in the demand for our graduates. The number of teachers,
announced for the year 2001 by the University of National Education is
25.791. This number is the first in the list of the teacher demands in
all fields. Moreover, all graduates of our faculty can be assigned upon
request and they do not experience any employment problems. This can be
observed in the increasing grades of the students preferring our
faculty. Our graduates are also employed by institutions of state and
private sectors. |
