Family and Consumer Science Education Department was established to provide specialist for private and public sector and to train family science and consumer education course teachers as well as optional home economy course in the primary schools of the Ministry of National Education.

   Family and Consumer Science Education Department’s basic aim is to research and educate on the subject areas and provide students basic principles on related family sciences thus to supply necessities rightly, to grow conscious consumer for guiding production, to cause to rise family life qualities, to prepare people for growing and changing industrial social conditions, use to science and technology to provide necessity in the best position to introduce professions related family science in the industry thus to select right occupations for students.

  The department has 162 students and academic staff including 1 professor, 1 associate professor, 2 assistant professors, 2 lecturers and 4 research assistants. Graduates of the department can be employed as work education teacher, consumer education teacher in the first and second levels of primary schools of Ministry of National Education and as family education teacher in other training institutes. They can also be employed as director or specialist in the service and merchandise sections of private and public sector relevant to their educational subjects.
